J Street U Relationship with Campus Groups
Through programming, education, and action, J Street U campus groups create a space on campus where students can bring together a commitment to Israel with a commitment to justice, human rights, and democracy. J Street U provides training, funding, and programming resources (speakers, films, etc) to J Street U campus groups and J Street U affiliate groups. J Street U organizing staff work with student leadership to develop unique strategies that best fit the needs of each campus environment. If you are interested in organizing a J Street U campus group, contact danielmay[at]jstreetu[dot]org.
J Street U Membership
Members of J Street at campuses across the country are united in their commitment to peace and self-determination for both peoples and are invested in creating a space on campus where the security and right to self-determination of both peoples is recognized. Members of J Street U join together for training, action, and advocacy.
J Street U CampusLiaisons
On campuses without J Street U groups, campus liaisons are the primary representatives of J Street on campus. On campus, liaisons work to engage J Street U members. Campus Liaisons work with the national staff to determine strategy and programming appropriate for their campus.
Cosponsoring
J Street U groups host, organize, and sponsor programs that reflect the mission of J Street U and will not sponsor programs that contradict our core principles. In addition, the J Street U logo can only be used for programs that meet these criteria.
Programs that contain disparate or varying viewpoints — including those contrary to our position — can be valuable, and foster a dynamic discussion. J Street U will co-sponsor such programs, however, only when space and time is given in which the positions and principles of J Street U can be clearly articulated and expressed within the event’s program.
J Street U and J Street
J Street U is the student arm of J Street, the country’s largest Pro-Israel, Pro-Peace organization. J Street advocates on behalf of bold American leadership on behalf of peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Organizationally, J Street U housed under the J Street Education Fund, the non-profit wing within the J Street family of organizations. While J Street U is affiliated with J Street, neither organization directs the policies of the other.
Communication and Feedback
J Street U works to give all of members an opportunity to relay ideas, comments, questions and concerns to J Street U and J Street staff.
J Street U staff works closely with our student board on campaigns, programming and policy decisions for J Street U. J Street also welcomes feedback from students on our policies and other decisions.
